Equipment Suitability Report

The Equipment Suitability Report command rates a fixed list of common equipment classes (short/standard/long freight cars, 4- and 6-axle diesels, small/medium/large/articulated steam locomotives, and standard/long passenger cars) against the layout's minimum usable curve radius – the tightest curve any piece of equipment must be able to negotiate to run anywhere on the layout. Each class shows PASS (comfortably fits), MARGINAL (within 2 scale inches of the minimum – may bind or derail on some equipment), or FAIL (won't reliably negotiate the tightest curve).

Curves under 9 scale inches are excluded from the minimum-radius scan as likely decorative (for example a small-radius spur into a scenic detail, not something rolling stock actually needs to run through at speed).

A summary line above the list gives the layout's minimum usable curve radius and how many equipment classes were rated, updated whenever the report is generated or refreshed. If the layout has no curves at or above the 9in decorative-curve cutoff, the summary and list both say so instead.

Unlike the Parts List (Parts List) command, this report always covers the whole layout; it does not consider the current selection (Select). Like the other phase-2 reports (Turnout Density Report, Track Lengths Report, Curve Stats Report), this report has no click-to-navigate – it's a layout-wide statistic, not a list of specific locations to visit.

The Refresh button recomputes the report in place – useful after changing curves elsewhere in the layout, without closing and reopening the report window.

The Save As... button opens a File Save dialog window that's used to name and save the report to a text file. The saved/printed text groups equipment classes under PASS/MARGINAL/FAIL headings, unlike the interactive list above (which keeps the fixed equipment-class order).

The Print button opens the Print dialog which is used to print the report.

The Filter... button (Filter Layers/Groups) opens a dialog to scope this report to specific Layers/Groups (Layer Groups Dialog) – every layer is included by default.

The Done button closes the Equipment Suitability Report window.
